If you really study Cobain, you can tell that he ends up hating any song Always take the scenic route simply Southern West Virginia shirt of his that goes mainstream (Smells Like Teen Spirit, Heart-Shaped Box). But he finds a way to make his more personal songs not hit the top of the charts. Lounge Act is a pretty heavy song when you study the lyrics, as are most of his songs, but I think this song resonated with Cobain in a different way than his other songs. Lounge Act is about broken love and having jealous emotions towards a girl (some say it could have been a drug, but I personally think it was his ex-girlfriend at the time) who is done with him. Cobain says he will wait for her, but knows that it will tear him apart on the inside with jealousy… classic self-destructive Cobain.

The other reason why I think he liked this song the most Always take the scenic route simply Southern West Virginia shirt was that he didn’t play it live often, and when he did he tended to mumble through the words. There are a couple of clean recordings out there, but the only ones I know of are from concerts that he knew were going to be made into CDs. I feel as though him doing that shows his insecurity with the song, feeling that it may be to personal to share with millions of people. For example, Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam does the same thing with his song Yellow Ledbetter, a song about a passed soldier that he once knew.
