There are a few school systems I know about that have a one on one ratio, actually more, in that there is an adult aid with each child and a supervisory teacher. This is not inspirational. If you want inspirational, read about my father and how he taught me to deal with bullies. My biggest bully was…my mother. I was born unfortunate looking with several handicaps. My older sister was quite beautiful. That was not her fault but my mother made the constant distinction. It was a long pause during those as they tried to think of something to say.
My father was my champion but he was military and gone 2 of my years between 2 and 5. Both of my grandmothers were my comfort. I do not remember my mother ever hitting me. However, one of my most vivid memories is age 3. My grandmother had pulled me close to her. I was facing my mother but my grandmothers arms were crossed in front of me, pulling my chest back. I don’t recall what I did. I do know that I made it a point to be as awful a “chile” as I could.
